Celebrating International Women’s Day

Tonight we officially launch WomanKind Common! Let’s celebrate the achievements, resilience and empowerment of women everywhere. It is with the knowledge that when we take care of ourselves we never have to feel selfish becausee whenever we progress the intersts of WomanKind we ripple out to all of HumanKind.

Our ancestors have taught us the importance of caring rituals and ceremony. Having practices that bring the sacred into everyday life helps us to stay grounded, connected and embodied. First Nations people have been doing this for tens of  thousands of years.

Malara Rise First Nations sisters have the spirit of country, this land where we are gathering running through their bones. They lead us through an Acknowledgement of County and a Storytelling Art perfomance of great beauty. Malara Rise means People Rise, creating and manifesting Rising for all through art.

We feel what is rising on this planet, at this time and it’s exhausting, devastating and exhilarating in equal measure. The movie Arise, made 11 years ago echoes this sentiment; a vibrant tapestry of solidarity and sisterhood, the transformative potential of women coming together to heal the planet and themselves.

It’s inspiring to see women in their power following their dreams and changing the status quo

My response to so many conflciting feelings is to keep opening, activating my heart and hands to carry the torch for other women and to keep igniting it when their light wavers. This is what women are good at. Every opportunity you get, do this for other women: compliment them on their achievmenets, shine a light for them. Even one comment of validation, when a woman may never in her lifetime been validated can change the course of a life.

WomanKind Common was born for this. When the external world is full of harsh, destructive, divisive words, jagged energy, fear and uncertainty, it is the kindness of others, the feeling of being supported, connected and cared for its what matters. The mperative to unite all women, all people with a common purpose – love, connection, through conversations, creativity, caring for each other and country – is greater than ever.

Perhaps the most profound feeling was the privilege of being in the presence of so many incredible women. The room was filled with individuals who embodied strength, resilience, and determination. A powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit of women everywhere.

I could feel the gratitude and fulfillment of the beautiful women in the room as we speak into our dreams and our wish to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Carry this felt sense of the potential for a “more beautiful world that our heart knows is possible “out into each of your days.
